Why Did Ariana Grande Skip the 2023 Met Gala?

The most important occasion in the fashion world, the 2023 Met Gala, was once again absence of Grammy-winning music diva Ariana Grande. Despite the fact that Grande hasn't made any official statement about her absence, her followers are fully aware that she is now busy filming the Wicked movie.

Grande plays the character of Glinda, the Good Witch, alongside Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba, in the upcoming film directed by Jon M. Chu. The movie will be released in two parts in 2024 and 2025. Chu tweeted in March, "We are deep into production on WICKED, and every day we get more and more excited to share with u the mischief we’ve been up to."

In April, Chu shared a first glimpse of Grande and Erivo in their full costumes on set, which only added to fans' excitement. In the image, Grande can be seen wearing a voluminous bubblegum pink ball gown, rushing up a flight of stairs, while Erivo sports green body paint and an all-black witchy ensemble.

Last month, Grande updated her fans on her Wicked journey on Instagram. Grande last attended the Met Gala in 2018, where she made a stunning appearance in a Vera Wang ball gown, screen-printed with images from Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel fresco.
