Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson has been fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over-rate during his team's thrilling 3-run victory over Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. The match took place at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Indian Premier League governing council imposed the penalty on Samson after the Royals were found to be one over short of the target during their bowling innings.

The incident occurred during the second innings of the match when the Royals were defending their score of 188. Samson was leading the team and was found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate.

According to IPL regulations, the captain of the team is fined INR 12 lakh for the first offence of slow over-rate in a season. For subsequent offences, the fine amount gets doubled.

However, the fine does not affect the result of the match as the Royals managed to defend their score and won the match by three runs.

Samson, who had earlier scored 62 runs off 37 balls, expressed his disappointment over the slow over-rate and promised to ensure that it doesn't happen again.

The Rajasthan Royals will paly against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the next match, and the Chennai Super Kings' next match is against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
